2009 SYLLABUS - WEDDING & STUDIO (NIKON CLS)

WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY AND
STUDIO LIGHTING (NIKON CLS)
INDOOR AND OUTDOOR SESSION ( 9am - 6pm )

** If you are unable on scheduled date, please inform me of your available dates in the sign-up form. I will try to compile a list accordingly.


1. Bride and Groom provided

2. Simulate scenario of a typical Malay wedding.

3. Learn what to capture in a typical Malay Wedding.
  • I will go thru the whole process flow of Nikah, Berinai and Sanding and tell you what you must capture. An absolute MUST for new photographers!

4. Posing Techniques.
  • Many photographers will appreciate this session. I will teach you the various poses and how to pose the bride and groom. Every participant will have a chance to pose the bride and groom. And most importantly, how to get the correct angle of shooting the poses to achieve optimum results!

5. Mastering Your Flash!
  • How to bounce your flash effectively! Reduce color cast from colourful walls. Get that lighting right everytime!
  • How to get that "blue sky" everytime you shoot outdoors with flash!
  • How to "blind shoot" and get sharp photos everytime!
  • How to shoot outdoors with correct flash settings on TTL and TTL-BL, and EV +/-

6. Fundamentals of Studio Lighting and Nikon CLS
  • What are the settings on camera? On the Flash?
  • Learn how to adjust settings according to situation
  • Learn what is involved in a studio lighting set-up.
  • What is Main Light, Fill Light, Broad Lighting, Short Lighting, Rembrandt lighting, Glamour lighting, etc.
  • Learn how Nikon CLS makes your photos a "studio" shoot
  • How to set-up Nikon CLS via your Nikon cameras menu (D70 and above) and flashes ( SB 600 and SB 800). Nikon cameras, below D70 will need to use SB 800 to utilize CLS.
  • Bring "studio lighting" outdoors!

7. Nikon CLS Practical Shoot - Indoors and Outdoors
  • A Hands-On experience on shooting CLS style! We'll provide a live model and show you how to shoot via Nikon CLS effectively! Once you master this technique, you will never look back!

8. The Business Perspective on Wedding Photography
  • What to charge and methods of calculating your charges.
  • What you need to know before doing wedding photography business.
  • How to promote your new business.

The session was held in Marang, Terengganu on 6 - 9 April, 2009 at BTPN Terengganu. The workshop went very well and we made many new friends! Special thanks to Pn Narimah and En. Mohamad for making it happen , En Abdul Salam, En. Amiruddin and Tn Hj. Mat for the great hospitality, En. Faiz for your assistance, Ms Dora and Ms Ain for the model shoot session, and to all participants who were very cooperative and very enthusiastic about photography!!
The freestyle outdoor practical was done at Pasar Payang, the Night Photography was done at Mesjid Kristal and CLS shoot was at the grounds of BTPN itself.

Wedding + Studio Lighting (Nikon CLS) Course

Our first Wedding + Studio Lighting (Nikon CLS) photography course held at D'Airish Bridal here in JB. Make-up was by its owner, Nizam who can be reached at 016- 7011437.
It was an exciting session! So exciting that we ended the course at 8.30pm! The participants were so enthusiastic that they forgot to go home at 6pm! LOL!
