There were 3 participants for this session; Ameran, Jamal and Rafi. Rafi came all the way from Batu Pahat to attend this course! By the looks of it, all of them love portraiture...it shows in their photos! And they were all using kit lens ONLY! You guys rock!Sofea..the model
That's Ameran in blue..shot by Rafi
The three guys coordinating a shoot
That's Jamal...
Ameran's shots:A nice capture via blind shoot!

Reflector was used here to fill-in the shadows
Jamal's version:Nice close-up..

This time around, we had 2 very enthusiastic participants i.e. Yulie and Jusri. And what a coincidence, both were using the latest D90 from Nikon! The model for this session was Shera, Ekin's (of Mawi) sister!
At one point, both were so enthusiastic that they never took a break from shooting Shera til 6.30pm and even then I had to literally "pull" Shera away from them! Hahaha...! It was a wonderful session!Jusri setting the camera menus
Yulie concentrating hard!
Shera shot by Yulie, Shera and Yulie shot by Jusri and all being shot by me!
A creative way to hold the reflector by Yulie!
The following are from Yulie...Balancing fill-in with daylight done correctly...background is not over-exposed
Taken with a reflector to fill-in shadow areas
Another fill-in flash technique
And these are shot by Jusri:Good composition
A gold reflector was used here to add warmth
Good control of exposure
HDR - From a single JPG
I have been told that in order to do HDR, we need multiples or at least 3 RAW files of the same image. Or that JPGs wouldn't be good enough due to dynamic range issues. Maybe this example of mine had "enough" dynamic range, who knows...lol!
This photo was taken during the Cyber-Shot show held recently at the AEON JUSCO Tebrau City, JB.
The other photo is from the Bob's Homestay Resort assignment, a main attraction of the resort.
What I did was to Open the JPG under Camera Raw of CS3, then changed the Mode to 16Bit and Saved it under .TIFF.
Then I opened it in Photomatix Pro, the similar process under my HDR How To's...
It looks like a pretty decent conversion to HDR, doesn't it?
You be the judge..let me know, please.
